Mountain and River View
Lower Sepik (southern tributary), Kambaramba Village, Papua New Guinea
Image from river looking towards grassy banks with mountain in the background.

Approaching Kambaramba Village in the Lower Sepik region, one views the low swampland with dense foliage. Mountains are inland. Traditional stilt houses are constructed away from the shoreline. The people were unable to claim any dry land for their own. Local women often prostituted themselves to support the family. Like many peoples along the Sepik and its tributaries, they decorate their canoe prows with carved crocodile heads and carve low tables and stools.
