With his hand outstretched, a young boy on Manam Island holds a giant prawn that comes from nearby coastal waters, off the Upper Sepik River in the Murik Lakes region. Prawns can live in either sea water or fresh water. Those of Southern Asia can reach thirteen inches (33 centimeters) or more. Females are larger than males.
