Description:
An Asaro man from Gameyufa, near Goroka in the Eastern Highlands paints his face and body with light orange patterns in clay. Men, women and children all wear the similar pattern of lines in a star burst manner. This tribesman further decorates his head and arms with green leaves and dried grasses. He carries many bamboo bows with pointed ends. Each is reinforced at segments with twisted vines. Strips of dried pandanus or palm leaves cover his body. The strap of a bilum bag hangs from his neck and down his back, barely showing in the photo.
