Harold and Mary Cohen : The Papua New Guinea Slide Collection
Object ID:
6.01.0705.HMC
Place:
Papua New Guinea
Description:
The Kitava school girls change their costumes for the traditional bare breasts, arm bracelets of nearby plant leaves and a bright red headband that is probably colored by trade store dye rather than the traditional red coloring from juice of the fruit of the pandanus palm. Each wears the same flowers from nearby plants. The rooftop of the missionary school is in the background.
