Papua New Guinea
Men and women of this Mt. Hagen group dance together. Their headdresses are similar. Each wears a brow band of iridescent green scarab beetles topped by a head band of animal fur. Additional layers of black feathers of the cassowary are interspersed with black, red, white, and pink feathers of many other birds. Women wear waist bands to hold up their skirts of flowing strips of dyed plants. Both men and women were long necklaces of red, white, and blue glass beads. Behind the performing group, another waits behind them with their very tall standards decorated with feathers, matching their swaying white long aprons of strips of cloth.
