Children view a pig trussed for cooking, in anticipation of a wedding celebration in Kumewegeia village on the small Kitava Island of the Trobriands in the Milne Bay of the Solomon Sea. A man shoulders each end of the pole. They will carry the pig to the grilling pit. Pigs are eaten only on special occasions, such as, for "Big Man," pay—back, male initiation into manhood, wedding, funeral, or sing—sing.
