Small Islands En Route
East Cape, Papua New Guinea
Seascape with blue waters and two islands. Island on right is closer than the second island in the background. Furthest island has many palm trees while the closer island that juts out from the right has a visible sandy beach, grasses and two types of trees, one type towering above the others.

The Owen Stanley Mountain Ridge reaches down to the water's edge of the Milne Bay On the northeastern end of Papua New Guinea. Over 435 islands (some with volcanoes), atolls, and coral reefs are scattered throughout the Pacific Ocean. The waters are difficult to navigate because of the small landmasses and shallow waters. On land the houses are almost hidden by the lush trees.
