Papua New Guinea
A tourist photographs a performing group with its leader to the back of the camera. His 5—tiered headdress is more elaborate than that of the other performers. He wears strings of bright red trade beads on his neck. His head of black hair is covered partially with a cap of woven strands of from plants. Cassowary feathers top are further topped with hammered bark and feathers from the black Astrapia and plumes from a bird of paradise. All of them wear waistbands that are embellished with strips of palm leaves and polish their bodies with red from the juice of the seeds of a pandanus screw pine.
