Eerie Shot of Mist at Dusk
Chambri Lakes, Middle Sepik, Papua New Guinea
Fog/ mist over the water of the Sepik River with the river banks. Large tree center right.

A foggy view from the Middle Sepik River of the Eastern Sepik Province towards the Chambri Lakes is marked by one of many small islands and shallow inlets. They are a series of swamps and canals that are seasonally filled by the flooding of the Sepik River. The area is rich in fish and bird life. Women trade their dried fish and the men market their carvings all over Papua New Guinea. During the dry season, the smaller rivers and the lake shrink into narrow, shallow channels and bits of cut—off river form ox—bow lakes.
