Description:
A Frigano young girl from the Lufa Sub—District of the Eastern Highlands Province wears a headdress of orange parrot and bower bird feathers with grasses, orange and yellow flowers and a few leaves. Long blue head plumes of the King of Saxony Bird point upwards to the very long black tail feathers of the sickle—bird. Her pectoral is made up of large kina shells that are cut and filed. Strips of blue paint are surrounded with white lines of paint crossing over her nose and cheeks. Arm bands of plant fibers made up into geometric designs, wrist bands of the cuscus possum—like marsupial or a tree kangaroo and a river grass skirt banded in tan and dyed brown complete her celebratory costume.
