Papua New Guinea
Highlanders of this group wear flamboyant headdresses topped by the long black Astrapia feathers contrasting with the bright orange feathers of bower birds and parrots close to the brow band. The man holding his wooden drum up—right has plume feathers from a bird of paradise alongside his ears. On his neck, he wears a kina shell and fur from a cuscus marsupial. Both the women and men paint their faces with small circles of bright red surrounded with bright yellow daisy—like dabs. The women wear full body furs from the cuscus marsupial. As with the man, the women's cloth skirts are individualized.
