Description:
A Highlander from an unidentified province paints the upper part of his face with bright red paint and the lower part with black except for his lips. Dyed red tassels match his face and dyed iridescent blue tassels match his bird of paradise breast feathers. His brow band has a row of green iridescent scarab beetles and another row of white nassarius shells. A cuscus headband of the cuscus marsupial or tree kangaroo is further topped with orange—red feathers of parrots or lorikeets. One white cowrie shell is worn on an intricate layering of seeds strung on strips of pandanus leaf or some other plant. His multicolored skirt is composed of dyed plants. He carries a small drum covered with the skin of an animal.
