For their 45th wedding anniversary in 1996, Harold and Mary Cohen travelled to Papua New Guinea. With Harold behind the camera, the couple captured many images of the Papua New Guinea peoples, culture, and landscape. Between September 11th and 13th, the Cohen's flew from Los Angeles, California to Sydney, Australia. From there they travelled to and around Papua New Guinea's mainland and several islands for a total of nineteen days, returning to Buffalo, New York on the 3rd of October.
The Cohen's tour guide was anthropologist Dr. Jan Barter with Melanesian Explorer Tours. During their tour, the Cohen's spent two days at the Goroka Sing-Sing Show, seven nights on the Melanesian Discoverer Island cruise ship, and took a tour of Mount Hagen.
