CONTENT WITH YOUR CONTENT?

Are you interested in learning new ways to engage your students? Using inquiry, your students will gain the tools they need to pursue excellence and creative problem solving that can be applied to all areas of learning. Join us on Wednesdays for topic based learning and recharge yourself with interactive ideas (and takeaways)! Classes are for all grade levels, as content will be adaptable.

Wednesdays 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Buffalo Museum of Science
unless otherwise noted

Teachers receive three hours of professional development credit per class.
Fee: $25/BMS member $30/non-member

  • January 23, 2013 Embryology
    Interested in raising chicks in your classroom, but would like to learn more about the process?  How can you teach this at all grade levels? Delve deeper into embryology. We will be joined by Charlene Spoth from Kelkenberg Farms.
    This course has been cancelled.
     
  • February 27, 2013 Earth Systems
    Tour our Earth Systems Science Studio, Our Marvelous Earth, and learn ways to tie art and science together utilizing gems and minerals.
     
  • March 20, 2013  Density
    Density is a difficult topic for most students, but an important component in engineering. Learn new ways to integrate this topic from bone density to tree density and more! 
     
  • April 24, 2013  Energy
    Come learn ways to integrate insulators and explore alternative forms of energy.
     
  • May 22, 2013  Art, Perception, and Color
    How does our perception differ from reality? What causes illusions? Connect art and science to color and brain chemistry.

These workshops are appropriate for Science, Technology, and Art Teachers.

 

CUSTOMIZED PROGRAMMING FOR YOUR DISTRICT

We can customize any programming to fit your district’s student and professional development needs. Packaged programming is available for your students as well as additional opportunities for professional development.  We can combine fieldtrips to the Museum and/or Tifft Nature Preserve with outreach to your school and/or schoolyard. 

Professional Development can be whole day (6 hours) or half day (3 hours) workshops and can include Inquiry, Genetics, Human Body, Food and Environmental Impacts, Probeware, Energy, and more! Just ask and we can develop a workshop to suit your district’s needs.
