Our Place in Space

Home > Exhibits > Our Place in Space

Life on earth is only part of the entire universe, and life as we know emerged through astronomical processes of galaxy and star formation. The exploration and understanding of our ultimate origins starts with the interpretation of objects that come to the earth (such as meteorites) and what we can understand of what we see in the form of the electromagnetic spectrum (visible light, particles, radio waves etc). It is largely through this medium that humans have attempted to reconstruct not only the current structure of the universe, but its very origins. Now humans are also endeavoring to travel to other parts of the universe, beginning with the moon and eventually to other planets either in person or through robotic space vehicles.

Plans are currently being made to improve Our Place in Space to provide new displays and interactions which will allow visitors to become a space explorer without even leaving the planet. Please stay attuned to these future developments!
