POSITIONS HELD
Research Fellow. 1996-present. Buffalo Museum of Science Curator. Holland Lithics Laboratory, Buffalo Museum of Science RESEARCH Stone or lithic materials used prehistorically by humans for stone tool construction. Describe and understand the geographic and geological sources for materials used in stone tool manufacture. Develop a classification system for chert through field and laboratory work RESEARCH ACCOMPLISHMENTS Developed the first visual comparative classification system for analyzing chert and other lithics resources (mostly chert or flint) in North America. Over a period of 25 years collected approximately 22,000 samples covering the entire the United States, most of Canada, and some other parts of the world to establish the most comprehensive North American collection of lithic materials (Holland Lithics Collection). This collection is made available for research by anthropologists and archeologists.
