What's your favorite toy?  Where did it come from?  During this camp you will explore the variety of toys in the world and learn where they came from. You will also look at toys invented in our area that helped make Buffalo famous.  Come ready to build your own toys for hours of entertainment!

Ages 9-12
The Science of Play

What camp could be more fun than a camp about playing and toys?  Have a blast learning the science behind toys and games as you craft your own toys, discover the history of “play” and put your ideas into motion as you invent and test your own games.

Up, Up, and Away

Have you ever wondered what is up in space?  During this camp you will learn about the wonders of space and all that you can find in it.  You will explore the different planets, stars, black holes and other mysteries that the universe holds.  You’ll also learn about space ships that are being sent to other planets and how space travel is possible. By the end of this camp you might be ready to work for NASA!

Ages 9-12
Passport to a World of Science

If you dream about traveling and exploring the world, this camp is for you!  We will use science to take a closer look at other cultures, far away places, world foods and how people get around in our global community.  Who knows where our travels will take us!

Wow! How’d they do that?

Is science magic or is magic science? Join us as we attempt to answer this puzzling question. Discover tricks that will amaze your friends and family, from illusions to slight of hand. We will de-mystify the mystery of magic!

Ages 7-8
Weird Science

Learn how much fun science can be as you perform “weird” experiments. Unravel the mysteries of science as you explore electricity, chemistry, light, and sound. Make some slime, sink the unsinkable, see paper dance and so much more!

Ages 9-12
Rough Science

Imagine that you are stranded on a deserted island far away from civilization. How do you know if the water is safe to drink? How will you know what the weather will be like? How will you see at night or cook meals? This hands-on science camp will teach you how to test the quality of the water, make weather instruments, generate electricity, use the sun’s energy to make something good to eat, and many more skills that would help you survive.

May the Force Be With You

You’re surrounded! There are always forces at work on and around you. You know about gravity, but what about the strong force? Pushes and pulls keep the world turning, in more ways than one. Make some neat toys as you experiment to learn what forces are and how they work.

Ages 8-12
Do the Locomotion With Me

The whole world is in motion, starting with the tiny atoms in matter. The Earth is always moving under your feet. Hearts are always beating around you. Planes are constantly flying over your head. Biology, chemistry, geology and physics all deal with movements of every sort. We’ll try to cover them all as we experiment with some of the most exciting “locomotions” of each.

Dynamic Dinosaurs

Did dinosaurs really become extinct over 65 million years ago? Discover what characteristics make an animal a dinosaur. What kind of world did they live in? Would they survive today? How has our knowledge of dinosaurs changed as scientists continue to make new discoveries? Play the role of paleontologist and have fun “digging” into dinosaurs in this interactive camp.

Ages 8-12
Paleontology “Plus”

Before you think you’ve “outgrown” dinosaurs, give the field of paleontology a chance to surprise you with a travel through time. Examine techniques used to not only excavate fossils, but also develop scientific theories that apply to ancient life beyond dinosaurs. Discover how fossils found in New York were one of the original ways used to date rocks? Why aren’t there dinosaur fossils in New York?  Paleontology is an endless source of exploration and fascination.
