Monthly Theme Days
The Buffalo Museum of Science’s Theme Days offer hands-on, inquiry-based activities centered on particular themes. Students will encounter new concepts, make connections, and gain a better understanding of the world around them.

Friday, November 18: Food Day
Grades 3 - 8
Something that everyone must do is EAT! Celebrate the harvest season! Sample seasonal produce, take part in making butter, learn how food influences culture, how to get your food waste to turn into black gold, and what's really in that potato chip. Tour the new GREAT (Gardening Ripens Empowerment and Togetherness) Garden and sample the movie "What's On Your Plate." Perfect ideas to whet your appetite!
Friday, January 13: Weather Day
Grades 3 – 8
Ever wonder about weather? From thunderstorm formation to why there are seasons and everything in between, students will get a hands-on look at how weather works. The forecast for this day calls for lots of fun and learning!
Friday, May 4: Insect Day
Early Childhood/Grades Pre-K – 2
Students learn all about their favorite creepy crawly creatures while exploring the characteristics of insects and other “bugs.” Live animals, crafts, and hands-on activities are all part of the fun on this very exciting day!
Friday, May 18: Bubble Day
Grades Pre-K - 8
Join us for a day of outrageous bubble fun! Students will experiment with bubbles inside of bubbles, bubble walls, bubble technology, and giant bubbles as they explore concepts of surface tension, geometry, and much more.
