HEALTHY BODIES
Come explore the complexity of the body. Students will learn about the positive effects of exercise and proper nutrition. Station activities highlight the circulatory, skeletal, nervous, and digestive systems. Discover what’s under your skin as we explore what makes us human.
HARD ROCK CAFE
Have your group discover their own story of the Rock Cycle. Using the museum’s collections students will explore rocks, fossils and the properties of minerals. This workshop combines science and literacy and students will create a take home activity that reinforces their experience.
WEATHER WHYS
Buffalo is known for its weather, but what are the reasons for the
seasons? Students will explore planetary weather systems and
local impacts of weather. Our program combines engaging demonstrations with hands-on activities on topics such as low pressure
systems, convection, and animal adaptations.
IT'S ALL RELATIVE
Discovering the interconnectedness of all things, students explore
the exchange of energy and resources between plants, animals,
and humans. Station activities highlight interrelationships of plants
and animals, genetics and classification, ecosystems, and natural
and cultural communities.
LIFE IN THE PHYSICAL WORLD
The earlier students are exposed to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the more they can comprehend the
world around them. Students gain a deeper understanding of STEM
concepts through experiments in simple machines and engineering
and design principles.
WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE
Around the world resources are shrinking. We can live without
gasoline but what about water? Students explore the water cycle
and the many states of water from its physical and chemical
characteristics to its connection to all earth systems. We also look
at the social and cultural constructs of water and water as a
managed resource.
NEW! TUMULTUOUS TECTONICS: THE SCIENCE OF THE SHAKE
Hold on tight! Earthquakes are one of the most deadly natural
disasters, but they are also among the most captivating. Students
will investigate the physics of earthquakes as they step into a
seismologist’s shoes. The impacts of these disasters on humans and
the environment will also be explored.
NEW! WHAT DOES MY LUNCH COST?
