INSECTIGATION*
NATURE SENSE-SATIONS*
Exploring natural objects with all five senses helps children to make discoveries. Students will gain a better understanding of how animals’ colorations help them to hide from danger, how feathers differ in texture and purpose, and much more. Students use their senses to help identify nature’s wonders – just like a scientist!
DYNAMIC DINOSAURS
SENSATIONAL SEASONS*
Why do we have four seasons and what makes each one so special? Students will learn about the adaptations animals and humans have to cope with the changes throughout the year. They will become weather watchers looking for the signs that can help them “read” the weather.
SIMPLE MACHINES MADE SIMPLE
What are simple machines? Ramps, balls, levers, we use them everyday but do not even notice them. Students will explore how they help us to do work and how they work together to make more complex machines. Students can decide for themselves if simple machines are something man invented or something learned from the natural world
LIFE CYCLES*
Discover which animals come from eggs. Do all animal young look like the adults? What adaptations do animals have that help protect their young from danger? Students will learn the answers to these questions and how we can help protect animals in nature.
WONDERS OF WESTERN NEW YORK
What makes this area so special? Is it Lake Erie, Niagara Falls, the Erie Canal, Lake Ontario or how they all work together? What are our natural resources and why are they so unique to our area? Students will discover what makes the Buffalo/Niagara Region so interesting and why it has a place in history.
