Brownie, Junior, and Cadette Girl Scout Programs at the Buffalo Museum of Science and Tifft Nature Preserve

All advertised Girl Scout Programs are available to girls in the Girl Scout Council of Western New York. For girls belonging to other Girl Scout Councils, please visit www.gswny.org for information.

Brownies and Juniors Crime Investigation Camp-In

Put on your investigator’s hat and grab your magnifying glass for an evening of investigation! Dust for fingerprints, analyze ink and use your powers of observation to discover how detectives use science to solve mysteries.

5:30 pm - 9:30 am
Fees: $30/Scout, $15/Adult

Cadette and Senior Wildlife Interest Project

The environment is a terrible thing to waste.  The more you know about it, the better you’re able to help.  Join us at Tifft Nature Preserve for an immersion in the natural world of Western New York.
 

Location: Tifft Nature Preserve
Date/Time: Saturday, March 27, 2010  6:00pm -- Sunday, March 28, 2010,  10 am
Fees: $28 per Scout, 1 free adult for every 4 girls,  $10 additional adults

Cadette and Senior Eco-Action Interest Project

Learn the skills needed to sustain and improve the environment.  Learn how to "talk the talk" and "walk the walk" to make the planet better for today and tomorrow.

Cadettes/Seniors Museum Discovery Interest Project Workshop

Earn your Museum Discovery Interest Project requirements while gaining insight as to what is involved in running a museum.

Brownies Science in Action Try-It Camp-In

Spend the night at the Museum and earn the Science in Action Try-It by experimenting with weird glop, balloon blowing, color and magnets.

All ages:   Ecology 101

Ecology - the study of life. What could be more interesting? Get a head's up on how to investigate the "wild" using tracks, scat, chew and simple guides. Be amazed at the everyday miracles at the natural world.

Junior Wildlife

It’s a wild world and where better to explore it than Tifft Nature Preserve?  Get up close and personal with the natural world as you investigate the place and purposes of  the plants and animal that share our  world.

Brownies and Juniors Science Magic Camp-In

What do air, paper and people have in common? They are all things you can use to do fun and magical science that will amaze your friends. Some of the activities cover requirements for the Brownie Girl Scout Science in Action Try-It (req #2) and the Junior Girl Scout Science Discovery Badge (req #9)

Animals are all around us.  They make the world a much more interesting place.  Learn about animal language, wardrobes, buildings and menus in an outdoor setting.  Try it…you’ll like it.

Earn the Movers Try-It while learning how air affects pinwheels, paper copters, ring gliders, windsocks and rockets.

Fishing is a relaxing way to spend the day and a wonderful hobby for a lifetime. Pick up pointers about the fish in our lakes, ponds, and rivers. Learn how to cast a line, set a hook and which bait to use. Come to Tifft and find out.

Juniors Science Discovery Badge Workshop

Earn the Science Discovery Badge by experimenting with chemical reactions, friction and the properties of water. You’ll also learn about mammals and rocks and optical illusions.

Brownies to Seniors Fishing With a Flair Workshop

Fishing: It’s a realizing way to spend the day and a wonderful hobby for a lifetime. Pick up pointers about the fish in our lakes, ponds, and rivers. How do you cast a net? What kinds of baits do you use? What’s a jig, anyway? Join us at Tifft to find out. We will have bait and a limited number of poles. Call (716) 440-8848 to reserve a pole.
