Science Museum Camera Club Since 1939, local shutterbugs have been meeting in the Buffalo Museum of Science's auditorium to share their photographs, camera know-how, and love of photography. "See you at Camera Club" has been an expression representing both anticipation and memories among members of the Science Museum Camera Club. The club meets at the Museum at 7 pm every first and third Tuesday of the month. On the first Tuesday, members submit works for a print and slide competition. A visiting professional photographer gives tips on how to improve the photo quality or presentation, and awards are given for the best submissions in several categories. The third Tuesday is "Program Night". Guest speakers present slide programs and travelogues, and instruct in various topics, such as new films, equipment, and portraiture. The club sponsors field trips to local commercial and digital photography studios, as well as to points of interest around Buffalo. Some workshops provide an opportunity to practice portrait or commercial photography. The Camera Club also has a mentoring program, matching a new member with a more experienced veteran who has similar interests in photography. Many club members share photographic work through slide programs for local groups. You're invited to come visit us at our regular meetings on Tuesday evenings.
