What is the Elmwood Science Spot? |
The Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences, one of WNY’s most vital providers of educational services, is located in the heart of the Elmwood Village neighborhood with a satellite location - the Elmwood Science Spot. The Science Spot offers science-based programs, workshops and activities for all ages. Our conveniently located studio gives us the opportunity to experiment with new, fun and engaging programs that match the neighborhood’s vibrant personality and support lifelong learning across a vast array of science topics.  | School Break Camps Stay all day or just for a couple of hours! Join us during your school break(s) for fun-packed days of experimentation, real object discoveries, special presenters and science-based play. With our staff, assistants and participants, we enjoy a mixed-ages environment and will help everyone find their place in our space. |

| Toddler Tuesdays Open studio time for parents, grandparents and caregivers to spend time with the special toddler in their life. Discover the wonders of science and the natural world together. Infants ages 12 months and younger are free. |
 | Homeschool Classes Explore the world through deep dives into fascinating topics that encourage rich scientific thinking! Participants’ interests and curiosity shapes the curriculum filled with experimentation, research and discovery. |
 | Afterschool Science Afterschool science involves science-based play and special feature activities, experiments and natural discoveries. The interests and imaginations of our participants shape the programming. |
 | Science Sitter Drop your child or children off for science-sational evening programming at the Science Spot! You decide the time frame and we’ll provide the fun. Space is limited. Dinner option available for families booking in groups. |
 | DaVinci Workshops: Travel the Globe Explore various regions, countries and cultures around the globe in these dynamic workshops presented by Bryant Street Studio and the Elmwood Science Spot. Children will spend time in each of our studios (both located within the Neighborhood Collective), playing cultural games, making natural history discoveries and expressing the artist within as we travel around the world in nine weeks. |
 | Open Studio Hours Your family can tinker in our science studio – where you choose your own adventures! Whether you like to build, design, mix or bubble, there are many fantastic ways to keep busy while building relationships with other families in the neighborhood. |
 | Family Science Nights We have created opportunities for families to learn together about some of the hottest topics on their children’s minds. Family Science Nights include personal facilitation and interactive stations based on the evening’s theme. It’s hands-on fun for the whole family! |
 | Group Visits Bring your group to the Science Spot and inspire their sense of wonder! A facilitated group session includes a combination of awakening the senses for science, experience with real objects from the Buffalo Museum of Science collections, science-based activities and the opportunity to engage with scientific tools of discovery. |
 | Science-Themed Birthday Parties Choose a party package: Mad Science, Fossil-Mania, Wild About Animals and Ocean Discoveries! Have another theme in mind? Talk with us about the possibility of a custom-designed birthday party. |
 | DaVinci Birthday Parties The Buffalo Museum of Science and the Bryant Street Studio team up to create an unforgettable birthday experience by blending science, nature and art into one fantastic party. Participants will engage in meaningful hands-on activities in both studios based upon a decided theme. |
