HOW THE 3D CINEMA ENHANCES CLASSROOM LEARNING

January 11, 2017 4:30pm - 6:30pm
The National Geographic 3D Cinema is a unique offering to the Buffalo Museum of Science. National Geographic provides a wealth of classroom resources, activities and materials that are standards based and free to use.  Join us for this Professional Development session and learn how the cinema can add a substantial amount of learning to a very memorable experience. *Please note, the first 10 teachers that sign up for this session will be free of charge and will receive a FREE VISIT voucher to the museum and the cinema.

CLASSIFICATION

January 11, 2017 5pm - 7pm
Explore various classroom topics in which classification can be used to expand understanding. Focus will be placed on classifying organisms and minerals based the features of that connect or differentiate them. The program will cover a variety of topics from the basic ideas of classifying by color, shape or texture to the advanced ideas of taxonomy and dichotomous keys

Providing a hands-on approach to basic engineering in the classroom.

INVENTION CONVENTION CREATIVITY WORKSHOP

March 1, 2017 4pm - 7pm
WNYIC and the International Center for Studies in Creativity present creative tools to help you, your students, or your coworkers learn to identify interesting ideas, as well as evaluate and compare ideas. These tools include guidelines for Divergent and Convergent Thinking, Brainstorming, Forced Connections and SCAMPER (you will learn what these terms stands for!).
You'll learn these tools (and others) in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way - designed to maximize your learning and to help you feel comfortable leading your students (and others) to creative and inventive thinking. For those who are participating in Invention Convention, these tools can be a boost to your students' creative journey! At the end of the Workshop, you will be provided with a Certificate of Completion as well as copies of the tools you've learned, coupled with tips for use and links to printable versions of these tools.
