The Buffalo Museum of Science Research Library

Hours: Wednesdays, 10:00am - 5:00pm by appointment, please call Rachel Borchard, librarian, at 716.896.5200, ext. 320 or email rborchard@sciencebuff.org

The Library is located on the 3rd floor as you exit the elevator from the Museum Entrance. The library holdings reflect the areas of the museum's research including: anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, botany, geology, invertebrate zoology, museology, mycology, paleontology, and vertebrate zoology. 

The  Library provides public computing terminals and wireless networking.

The library is maintained in support of the Museum's research departments and educational programs. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Anthropology
  • Archaeology
  • Astronomy
  • Botany
  • Invertebrate zoology
  • Museology
  • Mycology
  • Paleontology
  • Vertebrate zoology

The Museum receives over 400 journal titles each year. (Click here for a complete list of journals held by the Museum). The journal collection covers the topics listed above, as well as, science education, other museums' publications, and local and affiliated scientific society publications. A complete set of the Bulletins of the Buffalo Society of the Natural Sciences and the many other Museum publications are also available for reference. Interests from the amateur and local nature lover to the university researcher are represented in the IRC's journal collection.
