Birthday Party Themes:

YEAR-LONG THEMES

(Available year-round or mostly year-round)

Nature Scavenger Hunt

Ages 3+

Party goers will participate in an outdoor sensory exploration of the preserve.  Feel and smell the plants, listen to the call of Tifft while opening your child’s eyes to the natural wonders around them. Natural items observed during the scavenger hunt will be used to create a nature craft to take home.

Fairy Houses

Ages 3+

Available late Spring, Summer and early Fall

Nature is full of lots of surprises –maybe even fairies! Party goers will be able to build a house in the woods for Tifft’s fairies and nature’s friends to visit. The simple challenge of creating a fairy house gives children a unique activity that encourages them to go outside and connect with the natural world, nurturing care and respect for the environment.  Please have children wear clothes that can get dirty.

Amazing Animals

Ages 7+ Learn more about one of your favorite local animals during this fun-filled program concentrating on the Tifft animal of your choice.  Animals to choose from include, but are not limited to:  beaver, rabbit, deer, fox, woodchuck, coyote, turkey, songbirds, reptiles and amphibians (summer offering), insects (summer offering), and fish (summer offering). Party goers will explore Tifft in search of their ‘amazing animal’ and participate in other animal-specific activities.

FALL/WINTER THEMES

Furry Friends

Ages 3-6 Become an animal track detective and search for tracks during an outdoor hike of the preserve.  Party goers will participate in an indoor hands-on show and tell featuring real furs and other animal artifacts!  Make your own souvenir animal track field guide.

Nighttime Neighbors

Ages 7+ Evening offering 6-8pm Wednesday – Saturday, Party goers will learn about Tifft’s nocturnal dwellers during an evening hike of the preserve. Nighttime senses will be explored, both on the trail and indoors.

WSI: Winter Scene Investigation

Ages 7+ Venture outdoors and enjoy a favorite winter activity-snowshoeing* while looking for signs of animals at Tifft. Party goers will hit the trails and discover wonders of winter throughout Tifft as they trek on wooden snowshoes* and try to figure out who’s been hanging around this winter.
*Weather dependent

SPRING/SUMMER THEMES

Bug Hunt

Ages 3-7 Encourage the backyard explorer in your child with this insect-inspired birthday party. Armed with sweep nets and bug jars, party-goers will explore the world of insects up close as we venture throughout the different habitats at Tifft on a bug scavenger hunt.

Wetland Explorer

Ages 6-12 During this aquatic adventure, party-goers will grab a net and hit the trails for some wet and wild fun! We’ll explore the water habitats of Tifft in search of tadpoles, crayfish and other aquatic creatures.  Please have children wear shoes that can get a little bit dirty.

Bait and Bobbers

Ages 6-12 At Tifft, Lake Kirsty is a unique place to hold your child’s next birthday party. We’ll provide you and your guests with fishing gear (poles, bait, etc.), teach you some basic fishing techniques and let you try your hand at a special slippery, slimy delight!
