Tifft Public Programs for Adults & Groups

Snowshoe Rentals

Traditional wood snowshoes and young children’s plastic snowshoes are available for rent in the Tifft Nature Preserve Visitor Center when snow is at least 6 inches deep.  Please call 716.825.6397 to ensure availability or for more information.

  • Children 3-6 years of age (up to 45 pounds) - $3 per pair
  • Children over 45 pounds and Adults - $5 per pair
  • Buffalo Museum of Science members save 10%

*Footwear is important-sturdy boots, such as hiking and work boots work best.  Avoid fashion boots (e.g. Uggs), spongy boots, sneakers and low shoes.


  

History and Wildlife of Tifft Nature Preserve

The history of Tifft is an amazing story. A slide show and bio-fact presentation is included along with a short walk if desired. Perfect for seniors, human service groups or history buffs.

Fees: $6 per person
1-adult free per 10 kids
Minimum 10 per group
Maximum 25 per group

Nature Tours

Choose a 1.5-hour guided tour including Exploring Nature, Mammals Trails and Traces, Animal Homes and Habitats.  

Ages/Date/Time: All ages - available year round
Fees: $6 per person
1-adult free per 10 kids
Minimum 10 per group
Maximum 25 per group

Full Moon Snowshoe Stroll*

Come enjoy the sights and sounds of a winter’s night on a hike around Tifft by moonlight. If you’d like, bring your own snowshoes. Snowshoe rentals will be available at Tifft for additional $2 per pair. *Snowshoeing is weather permitting.

Leap Night Nature Hike

Grab a friend and venture out to Tifft Nature Preserve for a hike as we enjoy a once-in-every-4-years night on Leap Day. We’ll end by having a warm drink in Tifft’s cabin and learning about some of Leap Day traditions.

Maple Sugar Full Moon Stroll

Join us in celebrating the transition of seasons as we look for signs of spring on a moonlit walk around the preserve as calendar winter nears its end.
