Tifft Public Programs for Kids

You can now register online for many of our public programs!
Just look for the "Register Now" buttons next to eligible programs.

 

Snowshoe Rentals

Traditional wood snowshoes and young children’s plastic snowshoes are available for rent in the Tifft Nature Preserve Visitor Center when snow is at least 6 inches deep.  Please call 716.825.6397 to ensure availability or for more information.

  • Children 3-6 years of age (up to 45 pounds) - $3 per pair
  • Children over 45 pounds and Adults - $5 per pair
  • Buffalo Museum of Science members save 10%

*Footwear is important-sturdy boots, such as hiking and work boots work best.  Avoid fashion boots (e.g. Uggs), spongy boots, sneakers and low shoes.

 


Nature Nuts

Join us after school to have fun exploring while learning about the wonders of the natural world at Tifft Nature Preserve! Since this program will be held mostly outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather.

Ages: Ages 6-8
Fees:

Little Tykes Snowshoe Stroll

Snowshoes aren't just for the young at heart, so bring your little one to try out snowshoeing in our bear-claw youth snowshoes. Caregivers are welcome to give them a try too!

WILD about Winter Discovery Camp

What do you think animals do in winter? What do you like to do? Exploration of nature in winter is full of surprises and lots of fun too. Daily snack provided. Please bring lunch in a reusable container.

9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Tuesday February 21 - Thursday February 23

Ages: Ages 5-8
Fees: Members: $90 per child
Non-Members: $100 per child
Late pick-up:
3:45 – 5:00 PM at $5 per half hour, per day
Arrangements must be made at the time of pre-registration

Nature's Circle

Read a story and have some fun during an outdoor circle time at Tifft. Silly songs, games and lots of fun help little ones comfortably engage in a natural setting. Let’s learn to enjoy nature together!
