NATURE DETECTIVES
Put on your detective hat and get ready to play Sherlock Holmes and investigate the traces and clues that different animals leave behind. Students use their senses to explore the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world.
BIODIVERSITY BLITZ: ANIMALS OF OUR REGION
Weave the web of life in the Niagara Frontier! Through a variety of interactive experiences, students explore the ways that different species live and depend on each other. They’ll also learn about the three levels of diversity – genetics, habitat, and species.
Grades 3 – 8
MEASURE TREASURES
Unlock an adventure in your schoolyard using nature as the key! Students learn measurement in a practical and creative way: temperature and weather, tree math, sun energy, animal clues - the possibilities are immeasurable!
WETLANDS AND WATER QUALITY
Using our Wetlands EnviroScape Model, students will learn what wetlands are and their functions and value. This outreach will focus on how humans affect wetlands and the importance of preserving them. A focus on point and non-point source pollution can also be integrated into this program.
Grades 5 – 12
PROBEWARE WHERE?
Want to get your students collecting scientific data in the field, but lack the tools to do so? Have a Tifft Nature Preserve educator come to your classroom to share with your students how to collect and analyze readings on temperature, pH, wind speed (using an anemometer), water quality (nitrate, ammonia, lead levels) and more. We also have probeware to do human body calculations as well. Please notify the reservationist of the area of study in which you are interested.
