Now is the time to plan your trip to a valuable natural resource. Tifft Nature Preserve Programs support the NYS MST Standards and enhance science curriculums through inquiry-based experiences.

Tifft Nature Preserve: School Programming
Tifft Nature Preserve is the Buffalo Museum of Science’s environmental education site. A 264-acre habitat located just 3 miles from downtown Buffalo, Tifft features five miles of walking trails and a 75-acre freshwater cattail marsh. A man-made lake and ponds attract wildlife throughout the year.

Wild plants and animals abound. Birds, especially, are attracted to Tifft’s wetlands, near Lake Erie’s coastline. The freshwater cattail marsh teems with wildlife during the summer. Tracks in snow give clues to animal behavior in winter.
