Mark Mortenson is the President and CEO for the Buffalo Museum of Science, a position he has held since 2007. A former 20-year executive at the Walt Disney Company in Burbank, California, Mark earned his undergraduate degree from California State University at Fullerton and his MBA from Woodbury University.
Informed by their strategic plan and approved by the Board of Managers in 2009, the Buffalo Museum of Science is currently transforming their permanent exhibit spaces into eight interactive science studios highlighting the Museum’s collections. This endeavor, which will transform the Museum’s visitor experience by October 2015, constitutes the most transformative change within the building since its opening in 1929.
Similar initiatives are happening at Tifft Nature Preserve, also managed by the Museum. With solar power and geothermal infrastructure added this year, Tifft Nature Preserve is aiming to support the Western New York community as their environmental and sustainability information center.
