Camp Age Groups

Camp activities adapted appropriately for each age group

  • Preschool (Ages 3-4)
  • Children entering grades K to 1 in Fall ‘26
  • Children entering grades 2 to 3 in Fall ‘26
  • Children entering grades 4 to 5 in Fall ‘26
  • Campers entering grades 6 to 12 in Fall ’26 (Teen camps weeks 1-4)

Camp Hours & Late Pick-up Options

Camp Hours

All camps run 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Drop-off: 8:30 – 9 a.m.
Pick-up: 4 – 4:30 p.m

Late Pick-Up

4:30 – 5:30 p.m.; $12 per 30 minutes per day (must be arranged at time of registration)

Important Registration Information

When registration opens, visit the expandable list on this page or head to our Event Calendar and select your camp from the calendar to register. Camps fill quickly, and sold-out camps will be removed from the calendar. If you are interested in a camp that is sold out, fill out the form below to be placed on the waitlist (coming soon).

Please carefully select the correct Age Group for your camper(s). Before camp starts, be sure to review the Summer Camp Welcome Guide for important information on drop-off/ pick-up procedures, what to bring, and more.

In the weeks before camp starts, look for an email from CampDoc on how to electronically submit your camper’s Health Profile, Emergency Contacts, Permission for Pickup Information, Character Pledge, and Immunization Records. 

Campers will not be permitted at Camp until fully completed CampDoc forms and immunization records are received.

Tifft Nature Preserve Camps for Pre-K to Grade 8

Pre-K to Grade 5 Camps

Week 1: June 29 – July 2 | Echoes of the Ancients

Jump back in time with us as we explore the past! This camp is perfect for any budding paleontologist, archaeologist, or anthropologist! Campers will get a chance to touch and feel specimens from the Museum’s collection while they learn all about who and what came before them.

Please note the shortened camp Week 1 due to the observed holiday. Activities adapted appropriately for each age group.

Week 2: July 6-10 | Inter-STELLAR!

Sail across the stars during this out-of-this-world week of camp! We’ll discover stars, planets, meteorites and more! Our solar system is vast, but we’ll bring the wonder of the cosmos into the camp room with memorable hands-on experiences and materials from the Museum’s collections. All camp groups will also be able to explore space without leaving the Museum with a visit in our planetarium.

Activities adapted appropriately for each age group.

Week 3: July 13-17 | Camp-ocalypse

It’s the end of the world as we know it – and we feel better than fine! Come join us for Camp-ocalypse and explore the science of science fiction! From recycling to engineering challenges, there’s something interesting for every camper. Campers can expect to channel their creative energy as they come up with new and inventive ways to build and power everyday contraptions.

Activities adapted appropriately for each age group.

Week 4: July 20-24 | Colorful Science

Calling all artists! From exploring color theory and dabbling in design to the science of light and sound, campers will learn how art and science can go hand in hand blending creativity with STEM. Experiment with different mediums and craft fun fridge-worthy creations!

Activities adapted appropriately for each age group.

Week 5: July 27-31 | Monsters of the Deep

Anchors aweigh this week as we cast off from shore and explore the wonders of the briny deep and our great freshwater fathoms. All hands on deck while we learn about colossal megafauna and the practically alien environments in the depths of the Earth’s oceans and lakes.

Grade 6-12 Camps

Week 1: June 29 – July 2 | Tabletop Quest

Do you like to play tabletop and/or roleplay games? Are you curious about what is involved with game creation? Have you ever wanted to design one of your own and actually play it with a group? Come join us this week to do just that and more! This camp will include a field trip to a nearby park to give campers the opportunity to draw inspiration from the magic and majesty of the world around them while they playtest their game creations.

Please note the shortened camp Week 1 due to the observed holiday.

Week 2: July 6-10 | Under the Microscope

Future biologists and anthropologists are invited to join us as we learn about cultures (bacterial) and cultures (anthropological)! We’ll explore the wonders of both living biology and the cultures of the past! The Museum has amazing collections we can use to zoom in on artifacts and biofacts or view historical slides under the microscope. This camp will include a field trip to the Buffalo Zoo.

Week 3: July 13-17 | Backstage Science

Backstage Science blends hands-on discovery with creative performance as students spend two days exploring exhibits and experiments at the Buffalo Museum of Science and three days at Theatre of Youth transforming ideas into theatre! Through this unique partnership, campers will investigate scientific concepts, spark their curiosity, and then bring what they’ve learned to life through acting, movement, and storytelling. The week culminates in a short, student-created performance inspired by their discoveries, celebrating curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

A short performance for friends and family will take place around 3:45 P.M. on Friday at Theatre of Youth prior to pickup.

The Theatre of Youth (TOY) Early Bird rate does NOT apply to this camp.

Week 4: July 20-24 | Surviving Space

Attention, astronauts! Join us as we learn about how to survive the challenges of outer space, problem solve and use our creativity. See if you have what it takes to be a space explorer. Hopefully you will understand the gravity of the situation. This camp will include a field trip to the Challenger Learning Center.
