Collections Live: Study Skins, The Science of Preservation
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a museum? Museums take care of ‘collections’ – but what does that mean? Collections LIVE is a new initiative to turn the museum ‘inside-out’! Previously backstage activities will be taking place in public spaces – check out what goes into cataloging a collection, meet some of the staff and volunteers who’ve chosen this work as a career, bring your questions and we’ll work together to find the answers.
Collections Live: Study Skins – The Science of Preservation is every Friday from 10am to 1pm on the Museum’s third floor. Join collections staff in our Specimen Preparation Lab where you will delve into the macabre world of preserving flesh, skin, and bones. Uncover the significance of each specimen and how they are collectively used to advance science.
No pre-registration required, activity is ongoing.
Cost: Included with Museum admission, and free for members.
Age: All ages
