Community Health Day sponsored by Independent Health

Families are invited to enjoy FREE general Museum admission and explore together at Independent Health’s annual Community Health Day!

All guests may participate in a variety of fun and interactive happenings with a focus on health and wellness throughout and outside the Museum. Activities take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Museum will remain open until 4 p.m.

In addition to representatives from Independent Health, community partners include University at Buffalo PREPARE, Buffalo Lafayette Optimist Club, University at Buffalo’s School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Blue Flag Memorial Project, The Tool Library, EPIC, Center for Self-Advocacy, Massachusetts Avenue Project Urban Farm, and more , as well as a Juneteenth story time with members of the East Side Bike Club.

All four floors of exhibits will be open for guests to explore, and the Museum’s rooftop will be open until 3 p.m. for solar viewing, weather permitting. Families can also take part in a scavenger hunt and quiz in Explore YOU presented by Independent Health, the Museum’s health-focused science studio.

Independent Health will offer free giveaways while supplies last and a variety of health and wellness activities, led by RedShirts and its community partners, including a family fitness activity from YMCA Buffalo Niagara, PlayStreets programming from the Police Athletic League of Buffalo, Reddy Bikeshare demonstrations, GoBike’s smoothie bike.

*Due to the heat advisory, all Community Health Day activities will take place indoors. Rooftop access will still be available (weather dependent)
