Twilight at the Museum: Distant Giants

Twilight at the Museum returns for 2025! These Friday night evenings have become a warm-weather tradition for all ages and offer twilight talks with astronomers, observations of celestial objects from the rooftop deck (weather permitting), and access to all four floors of the Museum. Volunteers and members of our affiliate organization, the Buffalo Astronomical Association, will be on hand to guide guests through a variety of telescopes and space-viewing gear for eyes-on exploration.

Limited tickets available!

  • July 25: “Sunset to Stars”
Observe the sunset from the museum roof deck! Starting with safe views of the Sun, the Museum’s July event will include a great view of the Summer Triangle, a collection of very bright overhead stars and double-stars belonging to separate constellations. Learn the names and history of some of the brightest stars in the summer skies!
  • August 29: “Moon to (Nep)tune”
Sneak a peek at the mountains and valleys of a crescent Moon and planets Mars and Neptune! If we’re lucky, we’ll catch a glimpse of the iconic ring nebula, one of the most iconic and beautiful planetary nebulae known to astronomers and astrophotographers.
  • September 26: “Distant Giants”

Get some close-up views of our solar system’s iconic gas giant, Saturn, and the asteroid Vesta! With the Sun setting earlier, guests will get extra time to hunt for deep sky objects such as the Andromeda Galaxy!
